Oops! I did it again 6/6/2004 8:12:17 AM
Reminds me of a song.
Greetings once again Gentle readers.
On Saturday at 3.30 pm I met my nemesis once again.
It all started with an itch, an itch that travelled all over my body. Within ten minutes, my fingers and toes started to tingle. I mean gross pins and needles, followed by numbness. The inside of my mouth and tongue became swollen, my face went numb, and the room went spinning around. I had just enough time to ask Juanita to call an Ambulance, before I could no longer articulate sensibly what i needed. In due time the Ambulance and Paramedics arrived, tubes and wires everywhere. Machines went humming and buzzing, needles and drips were inserted into hands and arms. I remember getting onto the Ambulance Trolley, then not much more. I came back to conciousness, in Hospital about three hours later, looked around and a face looked over me, albeit she did look quite Angelic, I knew I was not quite done for, because she was wearing a white gown and carried a Stethescope. I said Hi! and went nodding off again. Finaly waking up at 8.30 pm. The nice people wanted me to stay for a week, for "Observation". I politely declined. my reasoning being that it was a Saturday night, the busiest night of the week for them. What with Drunks, Muggings, car accidents and the like, they would need every bed. Not sure whether they were happy with my decision or not. However they released me with a codacile. It being that i was to inform my dear Wife should anything untoward occur over the next few days, and that I should take the little pills they gave me.
What happened? No one knows. It has been suggested that I had an allergic reaction to medication, Celebrex to be exact. I did point out the following. I have been using Celebrex for over a year with no ill effects. Ten minutes prior to the "Episode", I had consumed a large glass of Vegetable Juice, which was probably past its due date. The symtoms that I felt were similar to poisoning with Neuro Toxins. Not dissimilar to the cigattera found in some fish and poultry. The attack was not gradual, it was sudden, taking only ten minutes from first symptom to the chest pain. One thing is for certain, I cheated the Lady once again, by only fifteen minutes this time, otherwise I would not be around now to type this. I know she is a Lady, Death that is, I have seen her four times before. I do know that one day She will checkmate me, but until then, White has first move, and I am the White Pawn, CHECK!
So now I just sit around and take my little Pink Pills, and my little White Pills, and wait for my tongue to gradualy deflate.
I think it must be time for me to go to my bed and lie down. So, until next time, remember to give someone a smile. It takes less muscle power to smile than it does to frown, meaning less wrinkles. Think of the money you will save, not having to buy Night Cream.
So until next time, when, I trust, I will be feeling a little bit more compus mentus, ( It's the Little Pink Pills), I will bid you gentle People a Fond Good Night, or Good Morning, wherever you may be. For some it is now Sunday, so as you attend to you weekend leisure, whether it be at your Temple of Choice, watching Football on the Box, or just having time with your family. Always remember that somewhere out there, they may even be sitting next to you, someone loves you.
May your Gods, whoever they may be, watch over you and keep you safe
