shock

Greetings gentle reader

The new year is no with us, and what a year it has started out to be. The pictures on television have said it all.

During my life, I have been a witness to many disasters, most of then man made. After all this time, one would think that one would become somewhat immune to the sights and sounds of human suffering. But no, I look at the pictures on television, hear the stories of survival, and the cries of those searching for the lost, and I cannot help but to feel their pain and weep.
I cannot help but to think of the thousands of Orphans, many of whom may not survive the onset of food shortages, disease, or the memories of seeing Family and freinds swept away.

This episode of Human History will live long in the mamories of all, whether one was on the spot, or just a media observer, the effect will be the same.
Deep and dark memories of other times have risen in my mind, spectres of horror, long thought to have been excorsized from my soul have returned to haunt my nights, resurrected by the sight of so much suffering. I awake weeping, and yet, I remain in awe, at the sheer power of the elements with which we live, and sometimes take for granted.

How many victims? We will never know the full story. To be recognised as being missing, one needs a survivor to report one as being missing. In many cases there is no one left to tell the story for them.

I will return later, I find it hard to write further at the moment.
