Vale Barticus

On Tuesday, My good and faithful friend, Barticus (Bart) Passed away. Over the last few weeks I have watched him slowly sink into the depths of his old age, as canine Alzheimers took over his life. He would wander around, stopping only to stare at a single spot, as if trying to identify what is was he was actually seeing. Yet for some reason, he seemed to recognise who we were right up until the last. He sufferd no pain, and slipped away quietly in his sleep.

He was forteen years old, which in real terms is around ninety one. We afectionately called him the Womble because he was a bundle of fur. He may have been only a foot high, but to me he was a Great Dane, not just a silky cross.

Australian Federal Elections

With thanks to our Government, we have paid the last payment on the "Bus". The second Bonus arrived in our bank account, $1543.00. Of we all realise that with the Polls taking place on Saturday, the family tax bonus is just a bribe to buy votes. Should the Government change, the leader of the labour party has anounced that he will spread the benifit over a year with equal fortnightly payments.

Personaly speaking, I can see no difference between the major political parties in this country, only the names are different. The policies are effectively the same. I think that this time around, the major parties may well find that, following the election process,  the Senate will be controlled by Independent candidates. Which may not be a bad thing. On the other hand, I am tipping that our next Prime Minister will be Mark Latham, leader of the Labour Party. Frankly, they are as bad as each other.
