road trip! 5/13/2005 12:17:08 PM
I just got back from a 1,000-mile road trip through Arizona ... as a panelist at Leprecon (north of Arizona) then visiting my Mom for Mother's Day (south of Phoenix) then visiting my Dad (Tucson area). I stopped at the Salton Sea on the way home, plus a few short hikes in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. I got another big heap of photographs that I don't know what to do with.
Now I'm back trying to get these film projects moved along. Some upcoming rehearsals for "The Crawl". And keeping up to date with Cohen as the film shoot for "Nightbeat 2 & 3" looms closer.
At Leprecon I was talking mostly about film-related topics. Attendance was iffy, but we were up against the Nebula awards (also in Phoenix) and the Kentucky Derby. It was good to see Kevin J. Anderson again; I've been enjoying the new Dune books, and he always inspires me to write more. Funny, now that I've struggled to get some films done, pure writing seems so much simpler ...
I sold a poem to Astropoetica, and was asked to write an article about poetic features for the Horror Writers of America newsletter. 4 tiny stories of mine (under 100 words) can be found in the new book "FlashShot: Year One", along with 361 flashes by other folks...
