I finally fought through the overhaul of part two of my novel "Phantom Base". I did part one in February. This book has been one of those long struggles. Hard to tackle the big things when life keeps changing and there's rarely more than an hour or two to focus. But it's also hard to get through a busy day of crapola with all these adventures freshly loaded in my head.
The book started out with just one viewpoint, which felt okay, since that character was where all the action was. But I've added more characters, more factions out to get each other. I think it's a big boost to the story when you can be with other characters for other crazy scenes. I've also had to change the political background of the story (now a world which has had several major catastrophes and is dominated by China), make the main Agency in the story less of a secret (nobody's "undercover" anymore, it's all out in the open), split up the Agency roles and military roles ... as you can imagine, it's like ripping up the carpet.
Anyway, I'm up to around page 300 in the overhaul, with a word count in th 94,500 range. I hope to get back to it tonight...
