Yay! Dana and Leslie were here. They have not been here for quite some time. Of course Leslie posted a lot of things on Facebook. But as much as I could read a variety of items that were posted on Facebook, it was difficult to keep track of her write-ups as much as my blog was difficult to track of. They attended Trivia Night a few months back, I recalled but they have not done so for a very long time. Their work prevented them from attending.
They were a formidable opponent in Trivia. They had a team that would always win and my team, Team Skunk, would always be second. Sometimes, we would surpass them but those were on some rare occasions. Until such time when they were not attending Trivia Night, my team began winning the contest. A competitor, a fair one, soon eliminated themselves and we always win. Sometime, we miss the competition but not that much.

In the beginning, when Trivia was still new, I joined their team whenever my team mates where not present and unless their team mates were not around. They would welcome me with open arms. I was a participant but a cautious one. So when they decide on some things, I’ll just say that it was alright. And then we would win. We got a free drink for winning. So, no matter what, my answers were only secondary to theirs.
Each team has their usual names. There was Team Skunk because in the beginning my team was playing trivia and cribbage; and one or the other would get skunked. There was the Puff Daddies because they would huff and puff by the entry way as they played trivia. And, there was Two Men by the John, because, you know, they (the two men) sat at a table closest to the toilet. As for Dana and Leslie, there was no regular name for them. They changed their name on some regular basis.
We would play trivia with a quick hurrah(!) whenever the question centered around booze; or yay (!) whenever it was true or false. There were quip murmurs or jokes among the teams. And when the moderator says that there should be no shouting of answers, most of the participants would shout, “Answer!”
Tonight, there were only a few of us; of note were Dana and Leslie with no one to accompany them and my team. It was not Team Skunk since the original members were not present, except for me. Rather, a member of the Puff Daddies, the bar tender and I were in one group. And the contest begins. It was normally an hour for the questions to be dispensed. And by the time the contest ended, almost everyone steps out for a smoke, including the moderator. They would go underneath that big hulk of an umbrella and chit chat; after which they would return, exchange our papers with one another and correct each other’s papers.
The moderator would correct the corrected papers and declare the winner. Second place was Dana and Leslie’s team. And the winner was…us, with a total of 20 points out of 25 questions.
So there you are. We won upon the return of Dana and Leslie. I wonder how next week would look like. But for now…Ha Ha! We won!
