Is the me generation having its effect Some reflections on the business books I am reading for research -
Reading through books on change and managing change, one item seems to be pervasive - as we move into the future, the pace of change in professional and personal lives has driven us back to the sixties and the me generation. My sense is that the instant gratification of the greener grass on the other side of the fence, and now being able to get there at a much faster pace than we have before, has replaced the values of teamwork and interdependency that blossomes from a more trusting environment. We change jobs when it gets stale, under the guise that the cheese has grown moldy. We change our partners instead of working out the differences, under the guise that the gratification we had before can only be obtained with a major change.
