Random thoughts at higher altitude
Standing at the edge of the mountains at daybreak, I peered across the valley and into the settled fog that lay like a blanket over the valley and the rise beyond. The peacefulness slowed the songs of the birds enough to be molodic instead of rushed. The distinct aroma of hickory smoke used to chase the chill away from the night before meandered through. As the sun rose and warmed the air, the blanket dissipated, as if being slowly undressed, revealing the lush green underneath. Left with a condensed mat in the notch, the sun continued purging the valley of the mist until the milky mist in the notch was washed away.
