OMG - More rain Yesterday's rain was absolutely amazing. Four in ches in an hour. I don't think that even in the hurricanes have I seen such a downpour.
But when it was done, the sky was blue, the air was fresh and clean (well, as clean as humid summer air can be), and all noise had stopped save the rushing water of run off.
And what run off there was. Drainage ditches were filled to the brims and looked like angry rivers, lapping at the sides, inching closer to the road to escape their confinement. The outflow splashed against the trees and rocks in the way, making the flow appear to be whitewater attraction (well, as white as muddy water can be).
And as startling as it had started, the waters receded, and flowed away to the rivers, leaving matted grass, the musty smell of old, decaying leaves, and piles of sticks and twigs lodged against trees that had dared grow in path of the run off.
And the slogging in the aftermath leaves me with wet socks. Perhaps there is a reason for sandals.
