Here I Am (Excerpt from This Side Of Heaven) 12/7/2007 9:56:23 PM
In Genesis 15:1–25, it reads how Abraham communed with God freely and willingly—having great faith that was credited to him as righteousness (Gen. 15:6). Not that Abraham was perfect, but he certainly held God as the object of his faith. He replied several times to God’s call, with a simple “Here I am” response (Gen. 22:1, 11). No matter the situation at hand, or the seemingly absurd request, his simple response was “Here I am”.
Through the years, I’ve learned that God will turn the ordinary things in my life into the extraordinary, when I make myself available to his will and plan.
God made it clear to Queen Esther (Esther 4:14) that if she refused to be used, not only would he employ another to accomplish his task, but that she and her family would perish and their name would be no more. Wow! God further adds through his servant Mordecai, “Who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” Again, Wow!
These are words that I frequently go back to when I’m faced with what seems to be an impossible, or highly uncomfortable situation; many of which I’ve already written about. I love how these words speak to me in such a way, that I’m moved to action, my perspective is changed, and I’m reminded that God is not setting me up to fail. Time and time again, God reminds me that a lost opportunity is only lost because I choose to do nothing with it; whether out of fear, laziness, or just plain not paying attention.
