Reading through the Scriptures about the birth of Jesus revealed a profound concept I had never seen before.
In Luke Chapter 2:6, 7 it reads, “While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
In reading this verse the words that stood out to me were, “because there was no room for them in the inn”. There was no room in the inn for the Savior of the world. Had the innkeeper known who was coming into the world, I wonder if he would have made room. Had he understood the magnitude of the event about to take place, I wonder if he would have made accommodations. And I wonder if he would have been willing to receive Christ, had he been paying attention.
These words remind me of the period of time when there was no room for Christ in my life. Choices I made and my view of life were definitely impacted because I had no room for him. And to think that although there was no room in the inn, God was not deterred from his original plan. To think that for a time there was no room in my life, yet God waited patiently, because he knew that someday there would be.
So during this Christmas season, I offer a friendly reminder: To those of you who are saved – remember who’s in the house. And to those of you who are not saved --- make room.
