Author and animal expert, Diana L. Guerrero ventures up the road for a quiet day with birds and a dog! Construction sucks! Why? Because my quiet lakeside abode has become the mecca for a variety of construction workers, electrical company employees, electrical contractors, water line workers, and a variety of other irritating elements. They wouldn't be so bad except for the banging and noise has totally disturbed my peaceable kingdom and my concentration. Not to mention re-routing the animals that trot down the animal trail adjacent to my home.
Last week I began working on my new book scheduled for release in 2006. That fact seemed to bring out all the loudest noisemakers and sparked a flurry of additional activity. Nevermind that the adjacent property was an easement and was never supposed to be sold...
Anyway, my neighbor (about a quarter of a mile up the road) invited me to her quiet cabin. The place backs up to the national forest and is surrounded by pines and a variety of birds. I could actually hear them instead of banging hammers!
Her dog, Soleil was excited to have someone to hang with. Unfortunately she only thinks I am the walking pal. I have about fifteen dog pals thoughout town. They see me as a human play toy, scratching device, and snack dispenser. However, my animal behaviorist side always scolds them for naughty behavior. I have LOTS of canine adventures.
Cats? I have one outdoor cat buddy. He is a really smart cat because most outdoor pets do not survive the coyotes, puma or bobcat natives. This orange tabby has been around for months and is known throughout town and seems to range about a mile or so. Anyway, I scold him when he is out to early or late. He just scowls.
Anyway, the quiet day was pretty good for research. Now that my power is back on I am working away on some other projects before I pound out more of my new book.
