Author takes a mini-vacation in North County San Diego. R&R is the doc's recommendation. Too much touring can be hard on the body. So, I've been taking it easy.
Yesterday I ventured to the beach again--perching on the cliffs to stair aimlessly at the water. Then I meandered from Encinitas up to Oceanside.
My niece Stella (gray poodle) was overwhelmed when I stopped by to see her. I will spend the night with her tomorrow, but in the meantime she did not know what to do! I have not seen her in several months. (Read my earlier blogs for stories about her.
Today I stopped by another old haunt of mine. The Hill Street Cafe resides in a fabulous Victorian home on the main drag of Oceanside. The organic restaurant opened prior to my leaving the area and I was often found hiding out there. Now it has become quite the popular place.
The garden is a nice respite and the deck is glassed in--making it a great location in foul weather. They have a new website www.hillstreetcafe.com if you want to check it out.
The afternoon was short and sweet. I came back to nap and read the rest of "Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister." Very interesting read. It should make for good dialog at our next bookclub meeting. No member likes it so far. I managed to like it better once I was about 1/3 of the way through.
The book has been very popular in bookstores nationwide. The author is best known for his book called, "Wicked." Basically, he rewrites the fairtales from the perspective of another one of the characters.
Tonight I'll be heading out for dinner with a friend. Last night we had a bite and went to the movies. I am spoiled living in a small town. Although our movie house is tiny (imagine a big screen tv) at least we don't pay $10 for a movie nor do we suffer through commercials prior to the main event!
Having said that, we don't have the fabulous sushi or great food people here take forgranted!
