Local efforts to raise funds for non-human animals. My return to the mountains has not slowed down my schedule. Yesterday I met with a group of women in Lake Arrowhead as the luncheon speaker. With all the talk of injury and loss surrounding my presentation, I was happy to have received a large donation of animal toys to donate to animal fire victims.
After a brief inventory I will call several of the local agencies to see if they will benefit more from the actual items or the sale of the items. I will be doing fundraisers for pets using the book and appearances to benefit various animal charities. Volunteers are always needed, so if you have a pet project and people and energy behind it, please let me know.
Finally, I am looking forward to this weekend. Two of my events were rescheduled due to the evacuation and it will be nice to connect with friends and other animal lovers.
On a final note, I found that a quote from my book was actually used in a scientific exam at the University level! Scientists scoff at the influence and individuality of animals--so controversy is great and inclusion in an exam (to young minds being molded) is even better!
