Deer are gentle loving and caring, teaching us the power of gentleness to touch the hearts and minds of others who are wounded. I feed them, love them and care for them and they have no fear of me… Lily of Lough Neagh

Poem Artwork

Let us not for sport destroy
Reaching out I must employ
Poison not the ground they eat
nature’s morsels oh so sweet

They were here afore us all
roaming freely standing tall
Nature takes its own course fair
Let naught man destroy it care

For I am but a simple soul
Loving nature all she holds
Gifts we’re given destroy naught
Watch discern for what we’re taught

For like all creatures small and large
from this soul they eat unharmed
Knowing of my tender touch
Gentle heart they know this much

I have loved nature and her wonders since I was a child; and I have been deeply distressed at what we Earthians are doing to our home. Thank you for the reminder, Carol. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,

We love nature and I teach our little girl to be kind to all the animals, we both take her to the zoo when the weather is good and walks in our national parks

Here where I live, I like to watch the momma deer teach their young how to cross streets and roads. I also like to watch them discipline the young when they misbehave. Pretty amazing stuff, actually.

I love deer. I used to spend hours out in Brazos Bend State Park off on the trails just watching them and their antics. I also used to hunt deer under strict rules and never shot one. Others bragged about shooting them illegally.

As a result of good hunting laws and enforcement, and private feeding of deer their populations have rebounded from a low around 1900 to sparse at the time I hunted to an all-time high. There are many more deer now than there were when the first Europeans came. Predators that deer populations in control are nearly gone in most states, so hunting has to do that job or there would be mass starvation.

Deer are gentle, but do not attempt a buck in rut. He may love you too much. ;-)

We so very sadly need far more Gentle Hearts these days. Far too many now regard all of these wondrous god-given creatures among us as disposable.

Deer I see very little though living in the woods I hear gunfire in the season and hope they miss their mark...man does not need to hunt anything unless he uses it for food which he rarely does...we need to learn to use what we got , not hunt for fun...e

All I have to do is look out my front window and watch them graze upon my plants and shrubs which is why I won't use chemicals. I use lady bugs....and all I do is smile! At night when it's warm and the windows are open we can hear groups of them trotting down the street on the asphalt pavements. They are a joy!

Love ya!

You are a beautiful soul, they are fortunate to have you. I wish all humanity were as loving and kind as you are. Some should take a lesson here.

To give comfort and aid to the animals of this world is a valiant and wondrous mission for those so inclined to carry it out. We have paved and build roads and fenced our animals out to the point where even I, not a rabid animal rights person can see what we have wrought. I love animals, and although I was raised within a "hunting" community, I myself have never hunted, not did my father. I commend you Carol, for what you do for the animals within your reach . . . I try in my own little way to do the same . . .

What a sweet little poem Carolee, not only about the gentleness of deer and nature but also about the gentleness of your heart.
