Needle in a haystack Yep, just as I said in a recent poem...we authors are just like needles in a haystack. I'm feeling a bit disgruntled. Why? I have worked so hard at trying to promote my books for them to be so easily dismissed. Then the other day I get this big old whopping check for---are ya ready???? $1.12 for one book sold over at Publish America. Great. Hey, I can get a cheapie cheeseburger with that. It's not that I want to become a rich millionairess with my books, but hey, let's face it, I did write them for them to be READ after all. I used to type up my manuscripts, hide them away in boxes under the bed or closet. Then I decided to get brave and actually go for it. Send it off to publishers. See what I can do with them. I think they're good. Others who've read them agree. They certainly want more. But let's face it. Unless you have somebody who is important out there to take notice, and literally make your book into a movie or something, you aren't gonna be noticed. You are just one in a gazillion...or...just merely that gazillionth needle in a haystack. Nevertheless, I intend to keep writing books.
