We Will Always Love You, Bobby Jim 9/4/2004 5:27:21 PM
Today, September 4, 2004, it has been 22 years since we lost Bobby. My sister, Bobby's mother, and Danny, his stepfather, came all the way from Fresno so we could visit Riverside National Cemetary where many other military persons are laid to eternal rest. It's a peaceful place with little lakes, green trees, and so many graves. The grave sites are lonely and undecorated much of the time. The flowers taken there are not left very long. Seems a shame. We took Bobby two lovely bundles of mixed flowers and a little American flag. And we stood there and gazed upon a stone with a name, a date, and a rank of Private. No matter how many years go by, this date is very painful to face year after year. But the bottom line is we will always love Bobby. And we will always wonder what kind of a man he would have turned out to be. There is something even more tragic in a teenager dying. We always think it is before their time. There has to be a reason why. But for the life of me, I still cannot figure out why. I know I never will.
