I cannot begin to tell you how enjoyable "Swing Vote" is.  Yeah, sure, we're a bit tired of politics. The really big, true election sits in front of us. We are all confused about this or that. What I'm not confused about is how wonderful this movie is. Let's start with the players.  Kevin Costner is truly a great performer. He comes across so realistically, you do believe without a single doubt that he is this broken drunk with a lot of "don't cares" rattling around his trash trailer. He is down on his luck and can't realize the richness he has in the amazing daughter who cares for him like a mother duck. He plays the part magnificently. The little girl who plays his daughter, Molly, can outshine any child actress in the biz today. She was awesome. She touched everyone in the audience, as she wept what truly looked like genuine tears of pain and sorrow. She can handily win a scene with any adults. This is more a story about a father and child relationship than it is about politics. Actually, politics takes a sidestep to the story. The story I got from this is if more parents took notice of their children's welfare, would we have as many incarcerated later in life? If more parents stayed together and worked to make their marriages good, would we have scholars instead of truent, bored kids who need to find a good friend to talk to? If not a good friend, then it is most likely to be an unsavory influence such as drinking, drugs, and pornography. I am astounded by the hatred teenagers have on some of the boards I occasionally visit. The movie boards are a good example. If they dislike an actor, they viciously attack like the pit bull who missed his chihuahua luncheon. That's not funny, though. It tells me their influences are not good ones. There are a lot of young folk out there who will be our citizens of tomorrow. They need to shape up now or what kind of chaos will we be living in for the future?  Hate is simply intolerable. If hearts are that hardened already against something as simple as a movie or its star, the concept around a story, or a group of people, then it almost seems like it's hopeless. We are taught to love thy neighbor. We should try to encourage the future generations to do that for certain.
