Sucking Up To Publish America I visit occasionally at PA just to see what everybody is up to. Why is that I just visit? Because PA is pissed at me for something I didn't do, quite simply. So I "snoop" to see what others are saying and nobody seems to miss me, ok, fine. I just tried to help other authors. Are they thanking me? NO. They're sucking up to PA so, I guess, they don't get "censored" and "rejected", "punished" and "disciplined" the way I do. Hey, I'm still trying to figure out why I'm in the freakin' dog house. There is one thing you can bet your Betty Boop shoes on...I am through with being nice to PA. My last "royalty" payment? A joking $1.12. I kid you not. Want to know how much I should have got? Well, in an old journal I ran across the other day, my first book started out selling 39 copies. I should have gotten maybe at least a hundred bucks you'd think? Wrong. I think I got about eleven bucks. As I pointed out to PA and the message boards, WITHOUT WRITERS AND THEIR WORK, YOU PEOPLE WOULD NOT HAVE A BUSINESS. YOU WOULD NOT BE SCREWING PEOPLE OVER. YOU WOULD HAVE NOTHING! You asked me one time in an email to give you the address of my local newspaper. Ok, I did. I saw nothing about my published books in the paper ever. Don't you dare act like you care about your writers, because you don't. I was young and stupid then. I'm not any more. After book II, I was disenchanted with these people. So, what I'm saying is those of you who want to stay with them, that's ok with me. You do what you feel is best. Just be careful of what you post at their boards. If you should happen to say something they don't like, and find you can no longer post, come join my side. We will commiserate together. I have now self-published eight books at lulu.com I love the experience I have there. The product is great. My last book was downloaded on August 25th and I received it in five days. I kid you not. It looks so good. I think when you self-publish, you have more of a sense of accomplishment. You put on all the hats yourself...editor, writer, publisher, printer, cover artist, whatever. And the profits aren't bad, either. You control the price. You have a say in your product. I dare you to try it and you will love it.
