Yet another hurricane! One of my uncles just sent me an e-mail update on our kinfolks in Louisiana. One of them is his granddaughter. She appears to be riding out the storm with her husband's family just outside of New Orleans. Seems that they must stay due to her father-in-law's health. They are in a house built like a bastion.
My relatives who are in nursing homes and such have all been taken to points north and west by their children. I can't imagine how scary this must be for them all.
During Katrina, we lost track of my favorite cousin who worked in a hospital that remained open during that whole fiasco. However, he was unable to go to work when the bridge washed out. This time, he has left town to go to Hattiesburg, MS.
Most of my relatives know better than to stay this time. They were all well-advised to leave this time. This time, I hope they are not set back and almost wiped out. Some had to live in garages while they repaired their homes.
Talked to my sister last night on the Panhandle of Florida and they were collecting up flashlights and candles. Right now that area is under a tornado warning.
Here in the hills of Hazard, it is foggy as usual. If you stood in one place long enough, you would feel like you received a shower. Dew is dripping from the canopy of trees. There is no chaos here, atleast nothing obvious.
