accepted story but not at the liberty to talk about the title right now.... 7/3/2010 11:41:22 AM
Author Nickolaus Pacione talks about a story that recently gets accepted and a novella he's currently working on.
I just got the e-mail from the anthology editor with this one, but I learned that JESUS FREAK will be a part of this uncoming anthology. It's been three years since submitting to Darkened Horizons: Issue 3, and I published some of my stories in Issue 9 and Issue 10 of The Ethereal Gazette. I also updated my offiicial website, but I haven't done the updates to reflect this because it's premature to announce it. I will be editing DYERS EVE for AuthorsDen.com, and you can see my day to day updates on my blogs on WordPress and blogspot.com. The wordpress blog is by itself as to the blogspot one goes with Writings From The Grave. The story JESUS FREAK has a trait with Metallica's Fade To Black in terms of the delivery. I got some joker right now saying he's the "new" editor in chief and owner of Lake Fossil Press when Lake Fossil Press always will be my ownership. I saw that the editor already announced my appearence -- as excited as I am as they are about this, though I honestly wished they waited until they had the full line up to make the annoucement. But yes this would be my first anthology acceptence in a long time, it's not since Diabolic Tales II (but I never got a print copy of this anthology, and didn't know my story got accepted until after the book's release. I guess the editor wanted to keep this one a surprise until it came out.) It seems like ever since that nasty breakup with my ex-fiancee, I became more career minded in terms of the writing because I writing more epic stuff these days. Well it is almost a year since I actually posted a blog here (two years for Xanga.com when I went on as just my first name. I did a post over there telling people I moved the blogs to where I do a lot of my blogging at these days. I have a 3000 word entry about the novella GAME OVER and this one is as venomous as THE FANDOM WRITER when I first wrote that one.) I was supposed to be on an e-zine this month but I was used as their pawn against another e-zine they were trying to break free of. I wasn't happy with how they were calling Witch's Party a fiction story written as a non-fiction story because that story IS non-fiction. So with the breech of contract and being baited by a troll "writing" a novel using my story's title, I barely think these books exist because they are forging Lloyd Philip Campbell's name. I am guessing some of them truly have a room temprature IQ and publishing (I use the term publishing loosely here) then using my magazine's email address and the publishing company's e-mail address for their sick game. So with that -- I do give the community at AuthorsDen.com the story Witch's Party to read on me because some asshole did a google cache of the zine and leaked this story. Being bounced from one place, but getting accepted in another -- that is a good replacement so it's not a total loss in my book. The other story is also set around the timeframe when I wrote Witch's Party, but it's one of those that I am very proud of in terms of using ideologically sensitive material to write a dark story. It's bound to be another Nickolaus Pacione signature short story as House of Spiders and Spectral Exile both are. I haven't blogged here but I am showing I am still active with the Den, I am celebrating my 8 year anniversary last month. I want to thank the Den for allowing us the ability to swear on stories again. The one I am working on that has the full anger of my imagination in mind is GAME OVER -- the deaths in this one are some of my darkest but I am not going for the slasher style deaths of the 1980s horror but I am going for something more atmospheric. It will be a throwback to what I was writing in college. I know one thing with GAME OVER when finished, it's going to piss a lot of people off -- JESUS FREAK, that one I am not really sure of the reception of that one yet. GAME OVER and JESUS FREAK are examples of my caustic dark delivery but I don't get into the horror right away with JESUS FREAK but GAME OVER I get right into it from the gitgo and have elements of black humor in there. The novella took me a long time to write but it was something I want to make sure when I do it it would come out strong and very dark. If you're a local writer looking to get published (I am talking Chicago area to Rockford area here, I am doing a second local author edition where the deadline is extended. If you want the e-mail address drop me a message.) Update -- sadly this anthology got cancelled and all submissions got released back to it's contributors. Not enough interest in a Gothic anthology.
