Clark and a whole of other things 1/6/2012 10:17:35 PM
Clark was enjoying today, with his good dog, a boxer with fine fur and pouty mouth. He asked me, “How am I doing?” and I answered that I’m alright. I also ask him how he was doing. He said that Patrick, his roommate for so many years, had left. I learned from further conversation that Patrick’s father died and left the house to him. I do not know if I should be happy for Patrick that he got his father’s house or sad for his father’s death. But Clark continued that he met a roommate who got an educational grant but rather spending it on his education, hung around the house and did not go to school. He just lounged. Well, apparently, Patrick got this guy to room with him in his house. Clark got another roommate. To Clark, the two moving away was a blessing in disguise. For one, Patrick was a mess, literary. He occupies two rooms but his mess stretches down the stairwell; and he smoked cigars in Clark’s house, not even having the decency to smoke outside. Secondly, thank heavens this roommate whom Patrick had taken, had gone with Patrick for he just lounges in the house without any productive endeavor.
Today, I got to do a whole bunch of things. First stop was the oil change place. As usual, the place points out things that can go wrong with my car - transmission oil, tire rotation, the lights at the side of the car and of course, changing my oil. The holidays had been expensive to me and still I had to travel to the Bay Area, California for the holidays. So, I advised the technician that they should just change the oil and note the rest of it on the receipt. And then, I went buy my cigars. It was a quick transaction. I met Russ’ friend. He was a cigar wholesaler and he was transacting business with the store owner. I told him that I haven’t seen him at Greater Trumps for a long while. He said that he has not been at the place for the past two weeks. I gather that it was more than that but I digress. Next, I went to the post office to pick up the books I orders from Lulu.com, “A Cottage in Another Country” and “Deconstructing Connor”. Of course, I also ordered them just like you would. I will use them in my visits to colleges this Spring. And fourth, I am suppose to be at Portland’s Home Show tomorrow and will need tickets and parking permits for the show, but Bob said that he still doesn’t have it. He will have them tonight and that since Joyce, a co-worker, will pick hers up, I should meet up with her at the home show and collect the tickets.
This time around, I am just waiting for 3 pm for my shift at the Costco on 138th St. I just got 1 marketing lead each day this past two days and that was poor, indeed. I normally would get 3, maybe four a day. But, granted it was the holidays and everybody was maxed out and deciding to change their gutters this Spring, it would be normal that my numbers were down. Whenever I text my day’s report to Bob and Jared, they thanked me. I wonder why. At least for Bob, he does that to me on some regular basis. I began thinking that most of the others would have zeros for their numbers. At least, I got one.
