The Russians 1/16/2012 2:35:24 PM
I had different sources to which I post my blogs: authorden.com, wordspress.com, Facebooks and predicament-paul.blogspot.com. I can say that all of them are intriguing because each and everyone of them present a different market. But predicament offers a peculiar statistics. I have more people from Russia wondering what I was thinking, doing and saying than say, the United States. I would expect my audience to be more American, but Russian?
Who are these Russians? Why would they want to know more about me than the Americans? After all, everything I say about my daily activity, the way I transact my own life and the place I do it is wholly in the United States. Would they truly understand me? Would they truly identify with the things I write about?
Blogging brings to me a wonderful experiment. It offers a man like me an opportunity to exhale in this stressed out world that I cannot find in the daily activity I do, for I am so much caught up in it that it is at the end of the day that I find solace in typing up an essay of my life. I am concentrating on blogging before I write a new novel, “The Baggage We Carry”. There is only so much time in the world that I can only blog or write the novel. Writing a novel brings to mind the thought process which is long and arduous. I chose blogging, for now, because it affords me a snippet on the philosophy and thought pattern that I cannot accomplish so easily using my novel. The novel is longer. Imagine saying so many things before the reader can truly decipher what the story boils down do.
I admire the Russians for their dedication they are giving me in reading my daily travails – be it happy ones or sad ones. I, too, wonder what their lives are. Do they sit in a bar in Russia thinking up some stories to tell their readers and blog? Or, are they merely conversing about what their daily life rather than writing about it? I am not a good conversationalist. I write better than talking. And if I talk, it would just be among friends. You know, here in Portland, Oregon, people are friendly. You could start off a conversation with anyone you desire. And people here would respond. And so, like my friends, Bridget and Ryan and Mike, they became friends quite easily. But making friends is not so easy for me. It takes a long time before I begin and want to know you. Even though I have few true friends, I have a great many acquaintances. Acquaintance is easy. It is driven by the job or the pressure to talk with each other. But they are mere acquaintances. Friendship is quite different.
I would want to thank Blogspot for this opportunity to reach my audience worldwide. Without them, I believe that my audience would reach those people in the United States only. But Blogspot had given me the chance to realize that audiences can reach farther regions on this earth. And fortunately, the Russians are my true and dedicated audience.
So, to the Russians, more power to you. And may you further enjoy the blog I dish out.
