No one wanted my money!!

Have you noticed how everything costs so much...companies want and beg for our business....yet.....
Service is less than acceptable at most places these days. I always try to walk in with s big smile...people even comment about my smile... and then the fun begins....the challenge... How do I keep the darn smile on my face???
Remember that hailstorm that messed up my car last month? Well, got the estimates, and finallyyyyyy....the check since I chose not to have it repaired... I owe a little on my SUV, so decided to apply it to the balance...The check is substantial...over $5000... so.. I spoke on the telephone with 3 people from the bank...THE BANK.. Each person referring me to another... OKAY... I understand...smiling at home with the phone in my ear... "Oh, Bank person # 4....then #5.... then #6.... okay... I'll follow the advice. Drive into town...almost an hour away (I live in a rural area)... Picked up the insurance check (made out to me AND THE BANK...) Went to the bank I was instructed to go....SORRY, CAN'T HELP YOU...WE'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE!!!!! Ok...still smiling... I go to another branch...(as directed) OOPS...SORRY...THEY SENT YOU TO THE WRONG BANK !!!! okay... Now I'm not smiling.... I'm getting irritated... but I keep control... hurry all the way back to my little town...figuring...I'll make MORE PHONE CALLS TO THE BANK...AND FIND THE RIGHT ONE TO TAKE MY MONEY.... FOUR more calls...FINALLLLLLLYYYYYY.... Oh yes... you don't have to go to the big city... we have a branch right here in your little town....(they told me yesterday that it would be impossible to go to this branch...they could and would not help me!).... I enter the bank... everyone looked fatigued and the bank was empty except for one customer and about 8 employees!!!!!! So...I proceed to the teller...give her the info told to me on the phone...she looks at me like I am from Transylvania...but the other teller says with a huge smile..."I love your silver earrings...are they heavy? They look substantial!"....Well... I keep smiling... "No...the earrings are hollow...look fat and heavy...but no..they are light as a feather....thank you tho." Now the original teller says, "Ma'm.... you need to go over to the desk and talk with the Manager!...." OK... I walk over to the man sitting at the desk... I explain it all to him (as I've done almost 15 times now)... and he says... "sorry...we can't take your money!".... Well, may I tell you... I LOST IT.... NO MORE SMILEY FACE.... NO MORE MISS NICE WOMAN...NO MORE I WROTE A BOOK ABOUT GOD AND LOVE AND MIRACLES..... "I'm sorry too sir.... someone is going to take this check and someone is going to deposit into my auto loan acct, and someone is going to do it today!!!!! because I am not going to call another bank branch...speak to another bank employee.... not going to drive to another city again....not going to move one inch from this comfy chair in front of your desk....until...someone takes this check!!!!" Well.... he said... "Ma'm...let me make a phone call or two... " So... I said... "you see this yellow tablet...it has 11 names and phone numbers on it....not counting the actual "in person" people I've spoken with yesterday and today...so would you care to borrow this list for your phone calls?"..... Well... in a matter of minutes....he had called 3 offices....spoken to about 3 more people...and finally he said.... I am going to have you endorse the check...make a copy of it for you....give you a receipt for it....and.... FEDEX it overnite to Utah...the office that WILL ACCEPT YOUR MONEY...." I took all that he gave me.... smiled once again...and said... I sure hope that your bank is still operating this time next week...and does not have the failure befall it that IndyMac Bank just did today!!!!!.... you will all be looking for a job if that happens...and won't you wish you had treated your customers a little nicer?" I gave him a bookmark...and a business card and said..."If you ever have an Extraordinary Visit story to share... plz don't hesitate to call me." I left with a huge smile on my face.... as I popped a tootsie pop in my mouth...free...from THE BANK... There is nothing I enjoy more than good service... how about you? lindalaw
