NO TEETH... 5/1/2009 6:27:16 AM
This had better be a good month, because April was not the great thing it was predicted to be!!!! Okay...I've decided to deal with Diabetes. Okay, I didn't get the Rapid Weight Loss that most Diabetics are blessed with... Okay...I just found out my phone (Joe's) has 700 share minutes with NO weekends and evenings...and overages are 40 cents per minute! .... Didn't matter before, but now I have so many friends and people calling that I've panicked... so I turned it OFF! Living on a budget is not so great, as many of you surely know. ON top of it all...I had alot of work done on my teeth about ten years ago, costs ME out of pocket about $12,000...but I could afford it then; and the dentist said "This will last you the rest of your life"...so I was thinking...Gee, what a deal! Okay...I will admit to being ticked because one small bridge hurt so much, that after three "fixes" it still hurt...so I threw it over the Ponchatrain Bridge in New Orleans.... so much for that! No one ever noticed except me. Well, here it is ten years later, I'm living in Arizona...and have this yuck Diabetes, and I'm trying to figure out what to eat etc....so...while having lunch yesterday....my mouth had just taken a forkful of scalloped potatoes when...I felt this metal and guess what? My upper three tooth bridge fell out! It's near my front top teeth...so you can imagine...I cried at the table. Then I went to the bathroom to clean the bridge, scrub my mouth, and try to figure out HOW to reinsert it!!! I managed to get it back in, but it was loose...so I held it a little longer. Needless to say, I didn't eat another thing all afternoon...but...the bridge fell out again anyway!! I found some over the counter dental adhesive, and did my best to re-insert the crown, holding it even longer this time. It's still up there, but it's not going to last I know... and I have no dental insurance, and cannot afford the tons that they will charge me anyway.... (Joe had a cracked tooth last year and they wanted $2700 !!!!) He went to Mexico and had his whole mouth done for $4500!!!! but...I have no money for such things like this.. Guess that other dentist figured I'd only live 10-12 more years???? No satisfaction in fooling him tho... Here I am near toothless with Diabetes!! and NO...I'm not writing a Poem about it, so don't ask!! Guess I'll get my wish now...I'll have Rapid Weight Loss with the cause being Diabetes alright...since I've lost my crown eating stupid stuff...and now I'm afraid to eat for fear the dumb thing will fall out again! The next door neighbor works for at a Dental office, and she asked her boss if there is anything I can do to recement/glue it...??? and he told her, guess what he told her....you all know what he told her....and so...she told me. "You need to go to your dentist and let him make you a new crown/bridge that will last you another ten or twenty years"..... Well, thank you very darn much! They fail to think that once we become seniors, no jobs, no health insurance, just Medicare, that....we are like a waste to spend trying to fix us up again...afterall...we are useless these days! Like the surgeons who hold board meetings to decide whether to give you a transplant or not...because....the young need it more than you,the old worn out used up useless thing!
Well, now that I've made your fabulous morning so much brighter...at least you can think of how precious your teeth are...and how lucky you are if you have dental and regular medical insurance...and if you have a job that pays...and if you have family who cares....and if you have minutes on your phone, even if no one bothers to call...and... Well, the bright spot is it's May!!! Maybe, just maybe...it will bring me some Rapid Weight Loss...even if it's due to having to sip everything thru a straw!!
Hugs and stuff...and...remember to smile and hug each other, but also remember to wash your hands first and then after..and don't be pulling on that face mask while you do all these things! Oh...and stay in bed til it's all over...you know...the Pig Flu, and all the other stuff that has hit you in the tummy lately! What would I do without you guys? This is the one expense that I don't have to pay for (well...it's almost free).... You my AD friends...my therapists...my shoulder to whine and cry on.... Makes you realize how darn lucky and blessed you are... hugs alot, lindalaw
