It's nice to have friends to listen...to care about our lives; even when their own lives are full and busy... The doctor said I am diabetic! It runs rampant in my family, and my sisters all have it except one (and she and I are the oldest of seven)...so I thought I'd escaped!! My younger sis's have struggled with it for many years...but with our family history...I had hoped I would not get it...SO..now I have it...and am taking meds...for now..so I'll try hard to keep it under control... :-))
Infections continue to rack my body...and so I've been one antibiotic for 14 days...then another infrection, so a new antibiotic for 5 days...and now...who knows? However, I'm still feeling the same pain and will ck with my doctor AGAIN this week! That's the gookie news....
Our Community scheduled a Patio Sale for today (Mar 21) and I hadn't planned on messing with it...just not good at selling my stuff...usually just give it away...but last nite I said... Why not? So...I blew up some balloons (no helium, just hot air hehe) and made a Neon Orange Poster, and began dragging items to the Patio, marking and taping prices on "stuff"! I'm a shoe freak...(Sold 400 pair before I left Nashville in June)...but I had about 75 pair here...so I shook myself and said...get rid of them! and Clothes...oh my goodness...I'm always buying clothes, except now I can't afford the nice ones like when I was working...but...I still had quite a few good things...so I dragged them out and priced them! Extra dishes, glasses, New items in boxes like a Crock Pot, and Blow Dryer, and more stuff... Anyway... I was up at 6 am.. CAN U IMAGINE!!! and at 7:00 the people were piling in.... MEN wanted Tools... none! Women were tiny...didn't want Med/Lge things.. my shoes are 6-6-1/2 so not so good either... so... I thought ... What a mess Ihave out here now!! Then..this lady said... you have your stuff priced too high! No one pays more than 50 cents or a dollar for things!! so..I said to myself... I've been going to thrift stores the past month..for the first time in my life...and..everything there is much cheaper than where I normally shop...BUT THEY ARE STILL PRICED TOO HIGH... so my things are nicer...and why wouldn't someone pay $2.50 for a brand new with tags Skirt that I paid $24.99 ??? well...go figure!! So... no customers by 8:00 a.m. - cash ones that is! Lots of traffic...no sales! So... I said.. Everything on that table is $1.00.... all shoes are $2, and make me an offer on anything else.... well... I had planned to take everything to Goodwill that didn't get sold...so... whatever I sold would be profit!! By 9:45 I was exhausted...and had sold $155 worth of STUFF.. and then... I sold a $1900 dining table & chairs for $45... you heard right! and then I sold that $50 crockpot still in the box for $10.... so.. I even sold some Halloween socks for 25 cts each... and by 10 AM I had sold over $200.... all that was left were a few dresses and 4 of Joe's Hawaiian shirts (yes those!) and so I boxed them...and....will drop them off in a few days at Goodwill!.......... Not a bad day after all! The people who got the table & chairs were sooo happy...and soooo lucky....but... they needed it... and then minutes after they left (to get a van to make 3 trips to take it home)....a man from Canada walked up to me and handed me a $100 bill and said... I'll take that table & chairs... !!!!!! Boy..was I tempted!!!! but... I couldn't do it... so I told him it was sold.. and... I thought... wow... it was still a great morning after all..
Now...I cleaned the patio like new...brought in my tupperware container with all my cashola...hehe... and..laid it on the kitchen counter.. I was so tired...that I laid down across the bed for a few minutes...and fell asleep!!! Me...who doesn't sleep well!!! and... then I got up to get something to eat...and went about the rest of the day... so awhile ago I'm looking for my cashbox... and can't find it!!!!
Don't laugh... I put it in the fridge with the rest of our leftover tupperware .... duh.... so... guess this is what is called....OLDTIMERS!!! HEHE...
Haven't written anything in forever...nothing wants to come spewing forth... however... I did finally sign up with Booksurge....and am so excited!!!! I haven't read all the steps fully...however, there is someone to work with you thru the whole process... and I can go fast or take my time...What a feeling of relief!!
Oh... one more thing! At my Patio Sale... I put out a few books and a huge pot full of BookMarks I'd made last summer for Extraordinary Visits.... and a few from my new book, The Visitors, Angels in Our Midst.... and guess what... I sold 3 OLD books... EVisits, and then one lady wanted the new one and said... can u make me a deal if I buy both? So..I sold her both for $20...(too cheap)...and she paid me $25... and said... I'm going to read these, and speak to my Pastor...and if WE like it... we will be in touch with you about doing a booksigning!!!!!! Wow... So... those free bookmarks were a great idea.... and... for fun... I had put a big Neon Sign on Joe's T-shirt (taped it to his back) and it said 'FREE - TAKE HIM'(not too handy tho!)....and then I taped 2 bookmarks onto the sign.... and said...BOOKMARKS ARE $50 EACH! He walked all over the park he was so popular...he came back and got another 20 bookmarks and was passing them out.... then.. one lady said to me... Is that your husband walking around? I laughed and said... Yes, He's free if you want, but you have to pay for the bookmarks...and she said... I'd pay for the bookmarks just NOT to take him home... hehe... OH well... It was fun...and I sold some books... who knew?
