The car that never died, I hope 12/10/2011 8:29:10 PM
It was another season, another chapter in my life. I broke up with my girlfriend and I pack my belongings up, shoved it into my car, say goodbye to my mother so I could take a trip right across America; to find myself, to write about my escapade, to visit dad and to get home refreshed, for this other chapters still awaiting to be written. My car had been through many escapades, I, being busy traveling and such. My gasket got clobbered in Minnesota. My heater got toasted in Las Vegas. And still, onwards I trekked. I remembered taking a picture of my odometer at exactly 50,000 miles. I was north of Denver figuring out whether I go to Cheyenne or this other town in Colorado (the name escapes me. I remembered Cheyenne because of its name and I remembered putting a penny, maybe two, in the penny meter by the state Capitol building.) By the time I reached Chicago, where my dad was, it was almost midnight. My half-sister, waiting for me all this time, fell asleep. She was ten, then. We decided to have an adventure by going to Toronto, but this time, my car stayed in Chicago, while we used my father’s car.
I still remembered when this car died, literally. It was at my apartment in Claremont Ave., in Oakland, California. I tried starting this monster but it wouldn’t be awakened. So, off I went to shop for a car. I shopped at an Acura and a Mazda dealership. Fortunately, I got an Acura. Paulo, my cousin, says that my car costs a million pesos. I was amazed. Unfortunately, my first Acura was stolen. Due to my luck, I have to pay $1,500.00 only for the mileage I used in the first Acura; so that, I had my first Acura succeeded by a second Acura.
This car now has 275,000 miles and some change. It went through several changes but not much. While I had this car, I decided to buy another car, a second-hand BMW. This was supposed to be for my Portland home while I use my Acura for my Oakland home. It ended up that I took the BMW to Oakland and I had two cars I used simultaneously. But when this economy happened (it just became worst), I eventually took both cars to Portland (since I sold my Oakland home.) While in Portland, my BMW was rear-ended and subsequently, it was wrecked. So here I am, just using my Acura.
I don’t know if I would like to buy a new car. After all, my Acura is still running well. Hope bought a brand new car and traded her old car. Janice is looking for a car. So, there is this dilemma: keep the old car or buy a new one. Yes, keep the car until it hits a million miles or start paying a new car loan. Oh yes, I forgot, I don’t have the money for a brand new car. I guess I will keep my old car running.
