Kimmy, my good friend
Kimmy is back. She is staying in the city for about two days. She’ll be leaving this coming Sunday. It was fun having her back and talking about the good times we had and the trying times she had away from us. She remains a very good friend, always saying expletives but with good humor. She came from Roseburg, training employees from Umpqua Bank. She said that it was a fun group. Of course when I walked into Greater Trumps, it was full of people and her group of friends was gathered around her. I did not want to sashay myself into the crowd so I sat at the bar. But soon enough, she separated herself from her group and greeted me. We had a good talk. Even Ryan and Bridget were there. Bridget came home and joined her former friends at an Umpqua branch celebration, had her hair cut by Stacy and then headed to Greater Trumps.
We talked about religion, smoking and drinking. Kimmy said that she was an atheist although her mother was Roman Catholic. Her mom told her that she would pray for her to one day believe in Jesus Christ. But she insisted that she would not be persuaded to do so. Then she told me about smoking. She told her mother that she would go out and smoke. Her mother gave her this wry expression. She did not give her a hoot. She still went out and smoke. And drinking, well, this involves her boyfriend. Her boyfriend was friendly enough not to concern himself. He told her to go ahead and have a few with her friends. He remained in a base outside Tacoma (at least that is where he was as I understood it.) At the end of the night, she was going to stay at her future sister-in-law’s bedroom. She got her message in her cell phone. And boy, she can type messages. I’m impressed.
Now that she is back, good times indeed rolled in. Her good humor was always a welcome plus to the group. For this short time she was here, she indeed gave joy to all of us in the small talk and inebriates us with her life, lively and gay.
