Good morning.
I don't know if I really mean those words since I have been up since 11:30 p.m. and trying hard to go to sleep. And no, I wasn't trying by being on the computer. ( That was funny though)
No I was first just determined to lie in bed and praying that I would go to sleep. It didn't happen so I turned on the light and started reading, finally I came in here turned on the computer and television and now I'm writing disturbing your day.
Warning: This will be a long post so you might want to read it a little at a time. LOL
Catching you up. I finished the edits for Many Shades of Gray, a book that comes out in Oct. from Genesis Press. I"m going to let it sit for a couple of days then go back through. I had to write a few news scenes and tighten some things up. I tell you I really value Sidney Rickman as my editor. We have a real connection between us. She's edited seven of my books so far so she alwasy knows where I'm going. Writers do tend to be a bit long-winded, as evident by this long post. Sometimes I think we might like the sound of our own voices. I don't know what it is but we all do it even the ones who will deny it. Anyway Sidney MAKES me cut out a lot of words and get to the point. And don't you wish she was editing this post. LOL
But this is the thing, she never forces anything and the work is still mine, my voice, my story. And she will even say that in her editing notes. The mark of a good editor.
In the midst of this madness I've had a lot of other things going on and for a change they were all fun. I did the chat on Donna Hill's site. I am always hesitant about doing new things on the computer. Now that I'm learning how to do those things it's addictive.
Donna Hill, Zane, Deatir King Bey, TL Garnder (sp) and so many others were in the chat room, oh and Nikki Woods. I can't remember everyone right now but it was like an internet conference without the cost. Very nice.
Then on Sat. I was part of an author's fest at the Bolingbrook Library. After which Deatri King-Bey, Barbara Keaton and I did a signing at Borders Books in Bolingbrook. It was a very good signing and Borders treated us well, like they really wanted us there. LOL
This coming Sat. Barb, Deatri, Lisa G. Riley and I will be doing a panel discussion in Chicago at the CArter G. Woodson library. On Sunday Barb, Deatri and I will be doing a signing at B. Dalton in North Riverside.
In the coming year I will try to post here more often. I will offer a contest at the beginning of the year. I was going to do it for Christmas but I just got a new toy. A debit card. I don't know if I've had it for a month yet but I'm overdrawn so......we have to wait until that's all taken care of. See I told you I'm not good with the new things. Yeah, I know I should have written the things down but I didn't. I did take an envelope and write on it in red "Receipts for Debit card" only thing they are still even now in the envelope and never got put in my check book. Once I checked and was overdrawn it seemed kind of pointless to write it down then.
I haven't talked about this for a while because I didn't want to bore you. And of course we both know that if I'm telling you now it must mean that I don't mind boring you right now. LOL.
Can you believe my arm is still hurting? I can do more but MY God!! this is getting to me a lot. I can at least type but I can't hold even a styrofoam cup of coffee in my left hand. Since I have a very sensitve stomach I mostly just tolerate the pain. But there were several days last week that I took the coated Bayer aspirin. I was becoming depressed from the pain and made a decision that mental health beats stomach. So I took two pills once per day. It did help some. But then I decided to stop before I caused my body more trouble. Like right now I can tolerate it. I'm wearing a differt kind of brace now. I've bought so many in the past weeks. This time I'm using the self adhesive tape and I started bringing it around my thumb and wrist to where the pain ends a little farther up. I've done everything I can think of. I'm thinking about the one person who wrote me (thank you) I can better sympathize with you now. I can't imagine having pain for an entire year. How did you keep from going crazy?
Okay writer or long winded, enough is enough. I'm going to end this. This is just my way of saying I'm sorry for not writing more often. I'm trying. Take care.
