The missing dedication for Another Man's Baby 1/31/2008 10:25:27 AM
Someone the dedication to my husband was not put into the book and this is the one book that it belongs in. So I'm posting it. my husband was a marine and so is the main character in the book, Another Man's Baby. I want to honor my husband for having served his oountry and for having gone to war. This blog isn't the way I wanted to do it but since the dedication was left off it's the best I have to offer.

Dedicated to Lance Corporal, William Davis. USMC--From 1964-1968. Thirteen months tour of duty in 1966 in Vietnam. once a marine always a marine.
My friend my husband, my lover, the father of my child, the keeper of my dreams the yin to my yang, it is with great honor that I dedicate this book to you. I am eternally gratefully that God was with your throughout your tour of duty in a country ravished by war. There were many horrors in that war as there are in any war. You came home whole and that is a true gift.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your service to the United States of America for your courageous involvement in a war no one wanted. YOU didn’t run but did your duty to your country. You were not in a war that was supported by the people. No one rallied around you or praised you for your service. Being a Black marine carried with it a double whammy. On your return home it was to a country in upheaval with the assignation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You were disrespected when you returned home as though you were the ones who had signed the declaration of war. Though it was not a war of your making, still you served.
You didn’t come home from Vietnam to cheers and accolades. So I will give them to you now. Lance corporal William Davis, I personally thank you for having served your country and for putting your life in danger for thirteen hellish months in Vietnam. I appreciate your bravery of heart and spirit. And it is with deep respect, honor and love that I dedicate Eric’s struggles to you. This is the only book that would have done justice to You, the marine. I love you with all my heart, soul mind and spirit. Thank you for being all that you could be: The Brave. The Proud. The MARINE.
