Michael who? In the mountains I met a teen aged boy
hiking with his dog. He lived in the hills
close to where my friends place was that I
often visit. Donna calls her cabin ET's
hideaway, named after me;-) It's by Donner
Lake and I love to visit there, whenever I can.
So the boy who I'll call Jim, sat and talked with me about this and that and then asked what I thought about Michael Jackson. I had to take a deep breath and make sure I contained my feelings, because I think it was a travesty of justice. However, I did manage not to go into a tirade. Instead I asked him what he thought of it.
What he said surprised me, because most of the youth his age think MJ is an icon and should be left alone. Jim said " I don't understand how he got away with it." Surprised by the answer I asked"So you think he's guilty?" He asked,
Don't you?"..." Yes I do, and the verdict made me sick, but I wasn't too surprised, with the way things are today." Jim said"That's what my dad said, he was so mad I thought he was going to smash the house up. My mother died from cancer 2 years ago and it's just me and my dad. '
I told him I was sorry about his mom and asked what his friends thought. He said "I only have two good friends. They don't care one way or the other. they're just glad schools over soon so they can hang out. Why do you think he wasn't found guilty?"
" My personal opinion is that our culture has become so desensitized that nothing means much anymore. No morals no reverence for life." He said, well I gotta go. you sound just like my dad, and alls I know is I had a friend went to jail for smoking pot and Michael Jackson gets away with what he did, because he's some superstar. I'll never watch him again, and I threw out all his cd's and anything to do with him."I said "Good for you! ...
After he left I thought If more people did that, maybe MJ would learn a lesson, but he's spoiled being worshiped by so many. Now he'll think he's some kind of god because he gets away with everything.
As for me I'm sick to death with the whole criminal justice system in this country! But no one gives a damn about that either. It's all just live and let live, love and let love, let it all hang out do whatever you want , and don't worry be happy.
The great enlightened society, my foot! More like the great entertainment society where the most important thing is what the number one movie, tv show, sports, computer game, or any other pleasureable thing is.Therefore let the superstars do whatever they please they are the ones that entertain us, after all. How sick is that...
