This will be a short Blog. I just want to say one thing, and that is how utterly and completely disappointed and, yes, even downright disgusted, I am at the moment with the American voter. Why? Well, because I heard on the news the other night that 21% of the voters questioned in the exit poll in Kentucky said that “race was an issue” in their decision regarding for whom to cast their ballot.

Ah, come on; please don’t tell me that I’ve been living an illusion all this time. Please don’t tell me that we, as a nation, have not risen above such narrow-minded thinking. Race was an issue? I simply cannot believe people still judge other people by the color of their skin. White, black, red, yellow, brown, or purple, why on earth should the color of a person’s skin matter? It sure doesn’t matter to me. It doesn’t matter in my day-to-day interactions with other human beings, and it certainly will not have any bearing on my decision regarding for whom to cast my ballot in November. What will matter, however, when I walk into that voting booth is who I believe will be the most capable leader for this country; who I believe will make his or her decisions with insight and a measure of wisdom; who I believe will care about all of us, both rich and poor; and who I earnestly believe will at least make a valiant attempt to get this country back on track economically, politically, internationally, and perhaps even spiritually. And the absolute last thing on my mind will be whether the person for whom I cast my ballot is Caucasian American, African American, Native American, Asian American, Spanish American, or some other kind of American entirely. I don’t give a whit about race. I don’t give a whit about ethnicity. I don’t give a whit about cultural affiliation. I don’t give a whit about anything but making the best decision for this country; and that is why I am going to cast my ballot for Barack Obama, a man who I genuinely believe is the best person for the job, who I genuinely believe will make a positive change, and who I genuinely believe should be the next President of the United States of America.  

And that’s all I have to say on the matter, at least for now.
