Some mountains are meant for looking at, other are meant for climbing. I took one more step back into the world today. After 8 years on disability, I applied and took a typing test for a position at the local library. This is a giantantic step for me. Why did I do it? I'm tired of having my life ruled by the SSA. I'm tired of living in a tiny room instead of a real apartment. I tired of having no car. I'm tired of having no life.
I got home from the test and got an email offering me an editing job on a book. That alone will get me a car. My needs are simple, but they are needs. With the commission on the editing job I will get myself a car, with a job I will move into an apartment.
I will be able to join the local poetry society, and go to events. I'll feel like a productive person and live like one.
It feels good to be me again, the me that was happy, witty, and using my talents again. Come the new school year I'll try to teach night school again.
