Just Another Day 3/18/2009 1:42:20 AM
I had a dream Hi Everyone,
According to my date book today is just another day. But is it really? Is there really anything like "just another day"? I don't think so. Each day bring a new set of circumstances, a new chanced, a new opportunity to do something special, or common, something nice or nasty, something important or nothing at all. It's a choice I have to make.
I can chose to sleep all day, whine and complain all day, or do something about my life. I made the first choice my logging on to AD and clicking on MY BLOG to talk to you or myself as the case may be.
Next I decided what I would talk to you about. Me, but not the complaining, whiny and disappointed in life me. She gone for good I hope. No, today I want to tell you about the other me, the Capricorn with Capricorn rising me. The me who never gives up a dream.
Even though it was a half a century ago, I had a couple of dreams when I was young. I'm going to tell you about 2 of them. I wanted to be accepted to MENSA and go to college and get a Ph.D.
I achieved the first at the age of fifty-five. I was as shocked as anyone when I passed the test and got my inviation. I was so nervous when the letter came that I couldn't open it, My Dad had to. To be classed as the top 2% in knowledge in the world is an awesome event in one's life. It was especailly sweet for me because I'd spent most of my life being told I was stupid.
Now to the second dream. At the age of 36 I entered college as a first time freshman. 3 and 1/2 years later I graduate with a BA in Creative Writing and American History. I started my graduate studies is American Studies the next semester. I got one class finished and the roof caved in on me. It came in the form of divorce. So my dream to continue my education was put on hold for 21 years.
But, now that all the children are married, I am moving forward. I have been accepted to Florida Atlantic University, and will be applying for the master's program in English for entry in the january semester. With a degree that was Magna Cum Laud, and a 3.71 gpa for my undergraduate work I should be accepted. So at the age of 61 I am going back to school "God willing and the financial aid comes though". Will I succeed? I hope so? But that doesn't really matter it's the trying that counts.
The moral of this story is that It' Never TOO LATE to redefine or remember your dream and act on it.
So, if you had a dream when you were young that you never
acted on, think about doing it now. It will only be too late to do it when you're 6 feet under, until then there's alway hope of achieving it.
have a great day
