What we do not know always scares us, but when we know a certainty such as the PROMISE of God Who can never lie,
the fear turns to hope and peace. Most of us are scared of death or dying, because we do not know what lies ahead after that. The uncertainty frightens us. We try to go about our way with unanswered questions in our minds, "where do I go after I die"?
Jesus declared to Nicodemus,"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of the Living God, promised that all who believe in Him and put their trust in Him for the salvation of their souls, WILL NOT PERISH but have eternal life. This is a promise that can never be changed, for God is not man that He will change is mind.
"The One Who calls you is Faithful and He will do it."
(1 Thessalonians 5:24)
The promise of eternal life is irrevocable, and we cannot lose it, in case we sin. Something eternal can never be temporary or changeable, nor can it be lost. The promise depends not on our own righteousness, but on God's mercy and His Word. If human king makes a promise, he is bound by that promise. What more if the promise came from the King of kings, the Eternal God, Jehovah Shalom - will it not be more eternally binding?
Paul said in Romans 8:35-39, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
As it is written:
'For your sake we face death all day long:
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'
No, in all things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. For I am convinced neither DEATH nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
