Fall brings a time of reflection and anticipation By the time August rolls around, in my mind, summer is over and fall is just around the corner. I love the fall. It's a time of change, a time of promise. It's the beginning of a new school year, the promise of cooler evenings, the surprising hillsides that turn from green to bright reds and oranges, colors that energize my senses and then fade all too quickly. I especially remember one beautiful morning in September 2001. It started out a day like any other and yet it was a day that changed our lives forever. Each of us remembers where we were when the Towers fell, when the Pentagon was hit and when a plane went down in a deserted field, brought down by heroes. Let's not forget the sacrifices made on that day, and since, by heroes from every walk of life. I'm proud to be an American and I'm proud of our country. I'm a "flag waver" and I cry when I sing the National Anthem at ball games. This fall I promise to remember, reflect and count my blessings, even when I pay more at the pump and the grocery store.
