Ready for Some Good News? 10/15/2008 6:45:30 PM
I'm ready to focus on the positive . . . so for a few days I'm not going to pick up a newspaper or watch television - I'm sick of bleak economic news and the never-ending political mumbo-jumbo we're bombarded with 24 hours a day. I'm more than ready to turn away from the negative and concentrate on a most happy event in our life: our daughter's weekend wedding and the precious time we will have with friends and family. After the dust settles we're taking a few well-earned days off and open up our vacation home in the mountains where we can read, write and watch the wildlife wander by the front window.
And all the while I vow to think about and thank God for our blessings; family, friends and the freedom to come and go as we wish in our beautiful old U.S. of A, to name a few. In fact today as my daughter and I drove around town running last minute wedding errands, we witnessed the fall season at its best with the trees and bushs showing off their gorgeous red, yellow and orange hues. Add a bright blue sky and warm temperatures and the day was just about perfect.
So my advice is to pop in some upbeat videos: classics like Bringing Up Baby, Big Business, Uncle Buck, Oklahoma, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World or Planes, Trains and Automobiles. And for a couple of hours put your feet up, eat some popcorn and RELAX. I'll be doing just that and will return to AuthorsDen in a week or so - hopefully with a couple of new poems to share with my reader and author friends. God bless.
