Ready for a Straight Stretch of Road 5/21/2009 10:30:33 AM
The twists and turns of life never fail to surprise me even though I know life’s journey is the proverbial “winding road”, full of hills and valleys, blind curves, overhanging branches that obscure the path, and the occasional “deer in the road” incident.
Over the past several months I have traveled a challenging road, complete with highs, lows and the ever-present surprise just around the corner. Through it all, family and friends have been supportive and encouraging. I tried to arm myself with a positive attitude, take proactive measures and remind myself that I should use the lemons and make lemonade and remember that “This too shall pass.”
Well, one area of uncertainty has been resolved and it all happened, excuse another cliché, “In the blink of an eye.” And so today I was able to finish off a poem and post it on Authors Den. I have been absent from the Den for a while, as my creative spark had dimmed and I couldn’t come up with an original or meaningful idea and even lacked the desire to write one.
One of my good friends, who lives out of town, called me the other day and mentioned she visited the Den to read my works, but sadly my Blog was outdated. This reminded me that my friends are out there and I owe them fresh material.
The sun is out today and it will be a beautiful Memorial Day weekend and so I wish you all the best.
