Chrysalis: it brings to mind a safe, warm, cozy place . . . When I think of a chrysalis I evision a lovely butterfly and the promise of something beautiful. And so with 2010, I see not only the beginning of a new year, but the possibility of growth and the appreciation of all the world has to offer.
New Year’s resolutions are worthy to consider, but I wonder how many people really stick with them for more than a month or two. To be honest with myself, I pledge to “keep on keeping on.” The goals I’ve sketched out over the last twelve months will certainly keep me busy enough. Near the top of my list I promise to write every day, stretch my literary "wings" and hone my skills.
Even though it’s cold, gray, and wet outside, I refuse to let the dreary month of January get me down. In my heart it’s spring; the crocuses, daffodils, and tulips are in bloom, and butterflies are on the wing.
