It was a week full of Mondays that ended on Friday the thirteenth, but it was the best day for me this year. I've been too long absent from Authors Den and have missed "chatting", adding to my work and visiting my fellow writers' sites.
Tax season is here and my work load has increased at the outside office I inhabit during the day. But with the miracle of a brand new computer and high speed Internet, I'm back with an almost ready poem and greetings to all.
Last night when I left work, all I wanted to do was plunk down in front of the TV, relax, and go to bed at a decent hour. As I drove down the last stretch of road toward home, I saw two Canadian geese grazing on the golf course; what a life, I thought. They were oblivious to the crazy world just a few strides from their domain.
Turning the corner I saw a van parked in our driveway and mentally switched gears; my kids and grandkids had dropped by. My youngest grandson met me at the door and gave me a big hug and squealed "Grandma!", while second grandson follwed suit. It doesn't get any better than that after a long day of numbers dancing before my eyes, playing tricks on my mind.
After visiting for a few minutes we all decided to 'round up our daughter and her husband and meet up at a new Mexican restaurant we had heard about, but never had time to try. Long story short, the eight of were together for the first time since Christmas. It was the perfect ending to a tough week.
I experienced one of those rare days when I had no more to give and everything that mattered was given to me in the blink of an eye. "Thank you dear family for the best Friday the thirteenth I've ever had."
