Mysteries of God by J-me (Part I) 11/7/2008 6:39:24 AM
Check out everything with the Word of God. I am often amazed at people's preoccupation with the mysteries of the Bible and yet they will go to every source except the Bible itself to try to understand. Why is that?
Probably the biggest reason is that the Bible is not the easiest read in the world. It takes time and diligence to understand. But for those who diligently seek God through the scriptures there is great reward in understanding.
• Hebrews 11:6 states, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
The above verse points out that a person must have two things to understand the Bible.
• A belief that God exists.
• And a belief that God will reward those who diligently seek him.
If you do not believe these two points you will have a hard time understanding the Bible.
WARNING!
Before we go any further I must say, DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT ANYONE SAYS ABOUT THE BIBLE, INCLUDING ME.
The reason I put up the warning is to let you know that everything you are told about God and his word must be checked out in the Bible. Do not take anyone's word for it. Search it out in the scriptures.
My purpose in writing this blog is not to tell you what to believe or how to believe it. My purpose is to get you to search the scriptures for yourself.
I will tell you what I have found, but it is up to you to search out everything in the scriptures. I will use scripture references to help in the search.
• Jeremiah 17:5 states, "Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord."
Trusting in man and his words will only cause us trouble. Check everything out in the word.
• Acts 17:10-11 states, "And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
God called the people more noble because they checked out the things that Paul the Apostle said with the scriptures. It is imperative that all things be checked out in the Bible.
Finally, it is imperative to ask God's help in understanding the scriptures.
• James 1:5-8 states, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
The above verse reveals that God will give you wisdom if you ask and believe that he will. God is not a respecter of persons. He will give wisdom and understanding to any who ask and believe.
If you:
• Believe God exits;
• Believe he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him;
• Are willing to check out everything in the scriptures;
• Have asked for wisdom and believe God will honor your request;
Then you are ready to unveil the mysteries of God.
