The Father In part one of the Trinity we saw that God created man in his own image. He also created man as a triune being by giving him a body, soul, and spirit.
Just as God made man a living soul - so also God has a soul. Listen to what God says:
• Isaiah 42:1, "Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in who my soul delighteth."
The Father is the very soul (or heart) of God. Although the Father is so much more than we can possibly know or think, God has chosen to reveal this side of himself to man. The Father possesses the very will of God.
Just as the soul of man cannot be observed with the human eye, so also the Father cannot be seen with the human eye.
• John 1:18, "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
Jesus confirms this.
• John 5:37, "And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape."
It is the Father who initiates the will of God. Jesus shows the will of the Father.
• John 5:30, "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."
• John 12:50, "And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak."
It is the Father who also initiates love for his creation.
• John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting light."
Again Jesus shows the love of the Father.
• John 14:21, "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
Just as the Father reveals himself as the "face of the deep," in Genesis 1:2, we can know that the deep issues from the heart, (or soul), of God are initiated by the Father.
