Genesis 3:7-10 • Genesis 3:7-10, "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden,and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."
After sin entered into the world Adam and Eve had an evil heart of unbelief; they no longer believed in the goodness of God.
• Hebrews 3:12, "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God."
This is evidenced by hiding from the Lord. God's Holy Spirit, (part of God himself), which he gave at creation could no longer reside in sinful man. Man now had an evil, worldly spirit.
• Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end."
Adam and Eve immediately died spiritually when sin entered the world. And the worldly spirit that God allowed could only forestall for a short time physical death.
God said, " For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." (Genesis 2:7) Adam did not die physically in the same 24 hours, but died after 930 years. Remember that one day with the Lord is as a thousand of man's years. (II Peter 3:8) Adam could not have lived over one thousand years, because he had to die in the day he sinned.
Man died spiritually and physically in the same day. (One of God's days.) Just as God said.
Adam and Eve's eyes were opened and they saw that they were naked. It is interesting to note that the first thing they did was make a covering for themselves. But this covering cannot hide sin.
• Hebrews 4:13, "Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do."
Man has made many attempts to hide his sin in the form of religion. But, only a relationship with Jesus Christ can truly eliminate sin's stain.
