Genesis 1:2 God announces himself as Creator of all things in Genesis 1:1 and continues his introduction to mankind in verse 2.
• Genesis 1:2, "And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
It is important to God that we should know him, because he loves us. He declares his three personalities from the beginning. These three persons of the trinity are revealed as the "face of the deep," the "Spirit of God," and the "face of the waters." I John 5:7 reveals these three persons as the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three persons are one God. (For a closer examination of the Trinity see my entries of November 18, 2000, through November 25, 2008, entitled "The Trinity" parts I through IV.)
• I John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
The "Word" in I John 5:7 and the "face of the waters" are both Jesus Christ.
The Book of John in the Bible reveals Jesus as the Word.
• John 1:1-2, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God."
• John 1:14 continues, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
The books of Revelations and Psalms in the Bible reveal Jesus as the "face of the waters."
• Revelation 1:15, "And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters."
• Psalm 29:3, "The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters."
It is important to realize that Jesus is responsible for the actual physical Creation.
• John 1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
• Hebrews 1:10, "And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands."
It is important to God that we know him. The entire Bible is God's way of revealing himself and his plan for mankind to us so we might spend eternity with him.
