Third Great Division • Genesis 1:6-8, "And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. and the evening and the morning were the second day."
The dividing of the waters is the third great separation of creation. It is here that God takes a part of himself for his creation. (Remember how he calls one of his personalities The Face of the Waters in verse 2)(See Amazing Creation part 2) It is here that Jesus, who is the face of the waters, takes part of himself for the creation.
• Romans 11:36, "For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen."
This division separates the spiritual waters from the physical waters. Heaven or the universe as we know is a great barrier between man and God. This barrier isn't to keep man away from God; it is meant to protect man from God's all consuming glory.
• Deuteronomy 4:24, "For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God."
• Hebrews 12:29, "For our God is a consuming fire."
• I Timothy 6:14-16, "That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."
It is amazing how an all consuming God could provide a means for us to fellowship with him through Jesus Christ. His mercy is truly amazing.
