Voters are between the rock and the hard place. Today’s voters seem to be between “the rock and the hard place” in the upcoming election. On one hand we have a candidate whose credibility level is as close to zero as you can get-on the other we have a candidate whose mental health needs careful inspection. In the middle, we have the citizens of the United States hanging in the balance. It seems like we are teetering on the edge of an abyss we may not be able to escape from if we fall in.
Our journey to this place has been long and painful. It is the culmination of decades of bad decisions by elected officials at all levels of government. Other contributing factors are our acceptance of situational ethics in place of moral standards and our insistence that the only thing that matters is the bottom line on a balance sheet.
So we now face an election with one candidate having been part of the bad decisions decades and the other fitting neatly into the balance sheet league. However, both of them are steeped in the situational ethics camp. So we watch and wait for the outcome of the election hoping that we are not putting the final nail in our country’s coffin by the choice we make.
