That's What I Think 2/9/2012 10:30:39 AM
Ah Thursday! Are you enjoying American Idol Hollywood Week? I am! That poor girl who fell off the stage!
Yesterday was a bad anxiety day. I had it all morning. I find that if I'm rushed to be somewhere early in the morning I get it. Yesterday I didn't have time to eat or leisurely get ready for the day. I stayed in bed too long...
Even the truck ride was bumpy and I couldn't catch my breath. So, in an effort to waylay the symptoms I called my work and told my boss that I would be in around 9:30. This gave my partner and I an hour and a half to get there. We were able to slow down the speed of the vehicle and stop for food. We went to McD's. I got their oatmeal with fruit breakfast...and that is really good! Along with a carton of milk. The food helped. I am hypo-glycemic, so if I don't eat in the morning I get shaky and that alone can produce the symptoms of panic.
Thank God I work for a man who is very flexible with me and my panic. He has Bi-polar and so gets what I go through. It is no big deal to him when I arrive just that I do. I wish there were more like him out there.
Once I got to work I focused on the tasks at hand and the anxiety went away! It has always helped me feel better when I can totally focus my thoughts on a problem or issue that needs work or solving. I used to stop on the bridge I had to cross to get to work(emergency lane) and balance my check book just to re-focus my energy. This worked and helped me over the bridge. But I would not recommend doing this because there is a level of danger in doing so. And, I had to face the bridge the next day so this method was only a quick fix.
Today I am better. It helps to have a loving essential partner that totally gets it and knows all the right things to say and do. Thanks honey.
You all stay well and remember to take deep cleansing breaths throughout your day.
