That's What I Think 3/26/2012 7:44:03 AM
Hi everyone!
"Whew" we spent yesterday raking and raking up pine needles and pine cones. Our front yard is looking really good!! We moved some items out of our drive way area so we can begin to park there now! Happy day. We are looking forward to sprucing up our shop and backyard soon! Spring finally came and the weather was warm and yummy! Doesn't spring just make you feel giddy!!
I've been looking to get health insurance. Since my divorce I lost what insurance I did have. There are a lot of companies our there ready to take your money that is for sure! It has been a little unsettling to live knowing I am not insured. If I experience a little pain in a tooth I worry that it may need a root canal or a cap. I also worry that if something major happened I would have nothing to rely on for re-payment. My sweetheart assures me everything will be okay...but with anxiety those words do not quite re-assure...ya know what I mean? I applied to my states health care system for "all", but was told there was no more room! WTF. No room...? Then they told my name would go on a wait list and it was like the lottery, if my name "happened" to get pulled I could the apply again. OMG. I thought the Obama idea was every American would have health coverage. This is a lie, I have discovered.
Since I am 55, "they" told me I might qualify for a different program. So I called this different program and was told I would have to apply for disability first before they could help me. Well if you've ever applied for disability it is a crap shoot. Most often 75% of the people applying are denied. If by some miracle you do get it they then tell you it would be about 2 years before you'd see a check. Now...how is the helpful to people? It is a mucked up system and full of loop holes so much so that there are law practices set up to handle denied SSA claims...just for that specific reason. Who in the world has money for that kind of lawyer?
I've been jumping through hoops for almost a month now getting pay stubs together for the last 5 years of my part time work history. I mailed those off today. Who knows if I will get disability. I'm thinking the other different health program available to us "OLD" people is looking for a denial before they will help me with medical benefits.
Talk about anxiety....the waiting is silly and obnoxious. But I have no choice.
I did find a rather reasonable company that was about $166 bucks a month with at (get this) $2500.00 deductible. But I could continue to see my current PPO and my therapist.
If any of you are going through this type of life situation, hang in there. Try to see the humor in this and stay positive. There is no other way to be. Good grief.
