It's snowing today. Darn..I thought we might have skipped winter by now and gone into early spring. So far though it is not sticking!! Thanks to that.
My favorite aunt is coming to see me this week. I haven't seen her in about 4 months. She says she needs a girl day with someone she loves! How kind and sweet.
This is the aunt I speak of in my books, she is one of my favorite people. She has stuck by me throughout many years. She and I are only 6 years apart so like sisters. She is very spry for 61 and rides horses and mucks out the stables and competes in horse shows. She is quite beautiful still.
When I was small my sister and I used to come to the farm out in Battleground Washington, where my aunt lived with her mother and sister, to visit and stay for days at a time. We all played together in the barn and explored the fields on horse back. Going to Grandma's farm was one of the best things me and my sister were able to do. Grandma was there all the time because she was a house wife and so we got lots of attention and love. Very fond memories of both my aunts. There was four of us and boy could we get in trouble! Grandma would say "I'm going to get the wooden spoon!" and we would all run in four different directions. Of course she never used the spoon, just the thought of it smacking our behinds was enough for us to tow the line.
I hope all of you have fond memories to draw upon when feeling blue or lonely. I have found that writing letters is very healing and a great old fashioned way to communicate.
