That's What I Think 4/4/2012 9:22:36 AM
Good morning. It's been a while, I know, since I've blogged. I've been running around like a chicken lately. Doing, doing, doing.
I have been reading a lot too. Just finished The Lucky One and am back to reading another witch story from the A Modern Witch Series! Love these!!
In Witches on Parole there is a witch that has a panic attack while trying to swing in the park. I so loved what the author Debora Geary wrote. It was this:
"Listen to my voice, Elsie. Just my voice. The air is already in you. Let it soak in your skin, in through your hands and ears and eyes. Push the fear out through your feet. In with air. Out with fear."
I was so touched by this paragraph because I have yet to read a novel that even went this far in explaining a panic attack let alone how to quell it. I have already tried this for myself. When I felt some moments of panic recently I did just this. I talked to myself saying In with air out with fear! I also used sign language while doing this and signing fear and expelling it with my out breath and flinging my hand just a little. That seemed to help me rid myself of the fear in a physical way as well.
There are many tools that we can adopt or give ourselves for dealing with panic. Keep looking and trying and eventually you will find one that works and feels right for you!!
